Regenerative and Intelligent Pathways toward the Twin Transition in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management: Driving Responsible Production and Consumption through Systemic Circularity and Interconnected Value Ecosystems
The Thematic Section examines how digitalization and sustainability can be jointly operationalized through circular, regenerative and human-centered production systems and interconnected value ecosystems. It seeks theoretical, empirical, methodological and applied contributions in Operations Management and Production Engineering, with emphasis on responsible production and consumption, circularity, resilience, digital intelligence and evidence-based decision support.
Production — ABEPRO's flagship journal (since 1990, ISSN 0103-6513). Double-blind peer review; published in English in continuous flow.
Regenerative and Intelligent Pathways toward the Twin Transition in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management: Integrating Organizational Transformation and Technological Innovation in Practice
Industrial engineering and operations management are being reshaped by a twin transition in which digital and sustainability transformation unfold together. This Special Issue seeks studies that move beyond technology-centred or purely conceptual discussions and provide rigorous empirical and applied evidence on organizational transformation and technological innovation in practice — in manufacturing, services, supply chains, public operations and other complex contexts, including emerging economies.
The Production Thematic Section and the BJO&PM Special Issue share the same review timeline. Papers enter peer review on a rolling basis as received.
If a paper is rejected at first decision, authors may submit it to the regular IJCIEOM conference system (by 6 February 2027).
Beyond the two journal Special Issues, the conference publishes papers in the conference proceedings (extended abstracts, on the ABEPRO portal) and in the Springer book (indexed in Scopus). In-person presentation is mandatory for publication.
The Springer book is planned across up to three volumes, sharing the conference theme with distinct subheadings. Submission templates for 2027 will be published here; the previous edition's instructions can be used as a reference in the meantime.
Accepted papers — in either Special Issue or the regular track — must be presented at IJCIEOM 2027 by at least one author.
