Dr Vasco Sanchez Rodrigues is a Full Professor of Sustainable Supply Chain Management at Cardiff University. His research is innovative and cutting-edged and focuses on challenging areas such as NetZero and food waste prevention and mitigation. Vasco is an industry-led academic who has undertaken successful applied-research projects for leading companies from the retail, food and drinks, and logistics sectors from the UK, France, USA, Germany, South Africa, South Korea, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina. Furthermore, he has published over 40 publications in prime international academic journals and is leading several applied research projects that together have £4 million of external funding. Prior to join UK academia, Vasco spent six years working in Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil managing manufacturing operations and project improvement implementation in BIMBO Organisation, a leading bakery multinational, holding a range of supply chain-based senior management roles. Vasco is also leading the development of executive and professional training courses for organizations such as Ocado, among others.
Guilherme Tortorella is Assistant Professor at the Department of Production and Systems Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Catarina and Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne. He holds a PhD in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS., with post-doctoral internships at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, UTK and UFRGS. He holds a Master’s Degree in Production Engineering, Specialization in Business Management and Graduation in Mechanical Engineering from UFRGS. He has experience in the area of Production Systems, Industry 4.0, Lean Production and Quality Systems, having taught at UFRGS, ULBRA, PUCRS, UNOESC, FSG and ESADE as a guest professor. He has more than 200 articles published in journals, having already received awards from IEOM Society International for contributions in Lean Six Sigma and Emerald Publishing as Outstanding Reviewer. He has 12 years of experience in the automotive industry with international training experience in Mexico, England, USA and Uruguay. It belongs to the Laboratories of Productivity and Continuous Improvement and Simulation of Production Systems. He is leader of the CNPq research group entitled “Productivity and Continuous Improvement”.
